I appreciate the different perspectives and ideas. Thank you.

Great Piece!! Keep it simple, don't use tired graphics and keep the viewers attention.

Peter Petowsky

My opinion about PowerPoint presentations is very clear. Push the audience what you want to say briefly and concisely made. Good graphics are much more important than text. Graphics, for example for marketing analysis, area planning or assessments should be visually the appropriate support. The corporate identety of the company should have all the slides to be read out clearly.

I personally like keynote. I have only used it once and loved it. I hate powerpoint even though I own a PC. I personally think to find great templates, it costs a lot of money. Also animation is the great feature with keynote. In powerpoint you have to use flash and so forth, to complicated simply to create a good presentation.

I am a bit confused on this whole concept. I am not too familiar with PowerPoint. I have not worked with PowerPoint since 2001-2002.

I think this the percentage of women that work part-time in Japan was a good example to use. The way that he showed multiple ways of having the slide was helpful in showing what you can do with Power Point.

Thank you for this usefull article that let us dip into ppt presentations

Garr, great post. You asked for examples of slides with more technical content. Check out some slide makeovers I've done, more appropriate for small groups than large-group presentatations.

Let me know what you think.

I agree with the author about being simple, not simplistic. It's just like what we use in the Aerospace industry called 6S. We use simple views called visual management to get complex points across. Basically you understand the information better if it is easier to see.

Andy

I agree that being simplistic makes different parts of the slide show stand out. You can really say what you want to say without making it wordy or complex.

Landon Studer

I also agree with the author about it being simple but not simplistic. The problem sometimes is that people like to over crowd the presentation with clip art, busy backgrounds, and text. I think we forget sometimes what is visually pleasant to the audience. Thank you for the tips and I will take this into use.

Also, this particular example does not deal with a technical presentation. If your presentation is on a less technical topic such as leadership, HRM, marketing, etc. then simple slides like these may be very effective. If you are giving a very technical presentation to a technical audience hungry for data, then your slides may look quite different. But even for a very technical presentation, embracing simplicity of design and striving for the greatest clarity possible should still be the objective. How you do that will depend on a great many things.

it is good for me, thank you
